Windows Server AppFabric[Dublin] and Velocity[AppFabric Caching] Beta-2 Resources

Posted: March 30, 2010 in Uncategorized

What is Dublin[Windows Server Appfabric]:-Here is what in MSDN  “Windows Server AppFabric is a set of integrated technologies that make it easier to build, scale and manage Web and composite applications that run on IIS”  .At High-level in simple terms it provides add-ons like Monitoring,Tracking and Persistence into your hosted Workflow and Services without the Developer worried about these Functionalities .

What is Velocity[Appfabric Caching]:- Appfabric caching is the Distributed In-Memory caching Framework from Microsoft. You can also setup it for Distributed Session mgmt.

Today I was giving the new BETA2 release a try and While Configuring and Installing I faced the Same issues Described in the Installation post  below.I removed VS2010 BETA2 and un-install ..NET 4.0 Extension from Control panel Add/Remove Feature and Installed VS-2010 RC and immediately saw the issue.Later I realized that I ve the KB still installed. While Un-installing the KB I faced the issue [Its does not get uninstalled and I manually created the Folders and Config Files to get rid of the un-installation error. Now It worked and I have installed the BETA2. One point unless you read the Installation doc [I do sometimes not read it carefully] that the version for Windows7 is WindowsServerAppFabricSetup_amd64_6.1 and pre-requisite  KB is Windows6.1-KB980423-x64.

Now Start the Installation,Once its done launch the Configuration tool.
